Rainy Backyard Session with Valerie

Ok, so here’s the backstory. Valerie and I met in high school, but I really only met her because she was an amazing artist and ended up painting the cover image of my older brother’s first album. At the time, I was in love with painting and admired Valerie’s skills for I knew she was beyond her years at such a young age. She’s grown up to become an amazing tattoo artist in Savannah, GA where she implements her painteresque style into each colorful tattoo.

Valerie and I have shot together a few times at this point, but her main goal was that she wanted to see herself become more vulnerable and confident. Couldn’t we all use a little bit more of that! As a photographer myself who hates getting their picture taken, I can attest to the challenge. Valerie’s secondary goal was that she wanted to see herself grow, and over time see how she may be changing. I’m not talking about appearance, I’m talkin’ energy and overall strength here. Personally, I think Valerie has such a unique style - with her Spanish, Native American, French, Irish and Welsh background she’s a unique mix with powerful features that makes any photo of her eye-catching.

Valerie, I hope you know how much power and beauty already lies within you!
